  • + Health Benefits

Anise is a natural source of iron, which is necessary for the body to produce energy and transport oxygen in the blood. Iron also helps to reduce tiredness and fatigue. The beautiful Aniseed is famous for its use in Liqueurs, due its rich liquorice flavour. Some people use it as cough medicine, as it is believed that it can ease irritable coughs or some bronchial problems.

  • + How to use

In addition to flavouring the popular candy treat of liquorice, aniseed is also used in baked goods, such as rye bread or aniseed biscuits, traditional Italian biscotti and pastries.  It can also be used in desserts, fruit salads, pickles and sweet soups, and is a wonderful additional to curries and seafood dishes.

Not to be confused with star anise, which has a similar but much stronger flavour.
